What does ordering farm-fresh beef actually look like?
Here is how the process works, start to finish!

PLACE your order & pay your DEPOSIT


Deposit

We require a $300 deposit to pre-order. Your order is confirmed upon receipt of your deposit. The balance is not due until order pick up/delivery.

 

Deposits are refundable up to 30 days prior to your estimated “ready” date.

Choose your CUSTOM CUTS.

1–2 weeks before your beef is ready, we’ll email you a link to submit your custom cutting instructions directly to the butcher.
(Please wait for our go-ahead before sending in the form.)

Prepare your freezer!

Average hanging weight is approx. 600 lbs (hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after initial slaughter once the hide, organs, head and feet have been removed). Average packaged weight is approx. 360 lbs (this is the amount that will end up in your freezer once the order has been trimmed, cut and wrapped). 

This is an example of a full order in a 17 cu ft freezer.

Pay your final invoice.

The approximate all-in cost is $4,470, butcher fees included.
Your final total depends on the  weight of the animal, which naturally varies. Any change in price simply reflects how much beef you receive — more weight, more beef, higher total; less weight, less beef, lower total.

We use the hanging weight to calculate both the price per pound and the butchering charges. This is the standard method for direct-from-farm beef orders.

Price Breakdown

Beef Cost : $6.00/lb — GST exempt

Butcher Fees (Country Quality Meats): *$1.04/lb + approximately $205 in additional fees (slaughter, cooling, recycling) + GST. *Cost per pound and butcher rates are subject to change.

Pricing Example (Based on a 600 lb Hanging Weight)

Beef Invoice:
600 lbs × $6.00/lb = $3,600
+

Butcher Fees:
600 lbs × $1.04/lb = $624 + Additional slaughter/cooling/recycling fees (approx.) = $205 & GST = 
Total Butcher Fees: $870.45
 

Estimated All-In Total: $4,470.45

Pick up or delivery. 

​Pick up is available from Country Quality Meats (Bon Accord, AB) at no charge. The butcher will call you when your order is ready. Delivery is available within Edmonton & area for a fee of $100.00.
